Cycle of Giving

Our Club is looking forward to supporting the Cycle of Giving Charity Ride in August 2025. 

Mary Long and her husband Mal started the Cycle of Giving charity ride in 2006 to show their gratitude to Mal's donor family and the medical team that performed the lifesaving surgery, and to raise awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation. Read more.

It now exists under the banner of Tour de Brisbane. Our Club is supporting Mary to also run it in the Sunshine Coast under the original banner of Cycle of Giving.

Any funds raised will be directed to The Cycle of Giving Transplant Research Grant which is awarded to a Researcher each year.

Dates

Saturday 23 August: Starting at Muller Park Bli Bli

Sunday 24 August: Starting at the Chill Café 89 Golden Beach

How will it work?

We now have over 240 Club members including our southern chapter Golden Beach Cycling. The charity rides will be integrated into our Club's calendar weekend rides.
That way our insurance still covers our members, and our usual riding groups can set their own distances and routes. 

The Club will support both Saturday and Sunday rides with an After Ride Social Event following the Saturday rides. Members can choose one or both days to ride. A tally of all kilometers ridden over the weekend will be shared to different media outlets along with total funds raised.

Fund raising

Club members will be encouraged to contribute through donations and/or fundraising efforts for our 2025 charity event.

Chill Café 89 owner David has offered to host the Sunday event and help promote the event and donations through his Café.

We will set up a fund-raising page that members can share with family and friends.
