Our Cycle of Giving Charity Ride supports lifesaving cardiac research.

When: Saturday 23 August 2025
Where: Kawana North car park near the surf club.
Rides: There are 4 rides on offer: 20km, 30km, 50km and a 70km ride.
- 6am: 70km with 789m elevation: Fast paced hilly ride from Kawana to Montville and back. Strong riders will enjoy the views and the challenge. Ride Leaders: Rob Herd. Strava Route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3377857684083990300
- 6:30am: 50km ride averaging 25-27km/hr. Enjoy heading south and seeing all the great beaches and scenery around Caloundra and Pelican Waters. Ride Leaders: Chris Hewitt and Greg Martin.
- 7am: 30km ride averaging 20-25km/hr. Cycle south on the newish cycle track to Currimundi Lake and return beside Kawana Way to Brightwater and Point Cartwright and back to Kawana. Ride Leaders: Joe Keily and TBA
- 7:15am: 20km easy paced ride so you can enjoy the Kawana scenery. May include a few bike paths. Ride Leaders: Henryk Wojcik and Bill Wieland.
Details of each ride distance will be on our calendar. Please register for the distance you would like to ride. No one left behind with lots of regroups if necessary.
To register:
1. Open the calendar to the 23 August.
2. Select your preferred distance. The 4 rides are in order of the leaving time/distance.
3. Select the register button and add your name and email.
4. You will receive an email asking if you Confirm Event or decline. Your name is then listed next to that ride on the calendar. You can change your acceptance until the ride.
A green thumbs up will appear next to your name on the calendar when you confirm.

Cycle of Giving History
Mary Long and her husband Mal started the Cycle of Giving charity ride in 2006 to show their gratitude to Mal's donor family and the medical team that performed the lifesaving surgery, and to raise awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation. Read more.
About the Ride
- The charity ride will be held on Saturday 23 August and start at the northern carpark near the Kawana Surf Club.
- The routes will be provided to Ride Leaders and offer four distances: 20km, 30km, 50km and 70km. Register on our calendar.
- The 70km group will leave an hour before the other rides so we all get back around the same time.
- Your usual group can stay together and select their preferred distance.
- Our Club's insurance will cover our members.
- There will be an After Ride Social Event following the Saturday ride.
- A number of business partners have provided gifts and vouchers that will be raffled on the day.
Funds raised
Funds raised will go to the 2026 Cycle of Giving Transplant Research Grant.
Our Target is $15,000
Any funds raised will be directed to The Cycle of Giving Transplant Research Grant which is awarded to a Researcher each year. Lauren Blake received the 2025 Cycle of Giving Research Grant. Lauren's research will help better protect donor hearts and increase the number of successful heart transplants. Read about Lauren's research (pdf).
